Amethyst Aviary Earrings
These gorgeous earrings feature antique 1940’s brass oval settings in a dark (almost black) patina that are securing beautiful oval amethyst glass faceted crystal stones. These antique settings are approximately one inch long and a 1/2 inch wide. Dangling beaneath is a black coated metal sparrow bird that is flying upwards. Incorporating birds into Victorian style jewelry symbolized the desire to have a loved one return home safely. Historically, amethyst was believed to prevent drunkenness and stop intoxication. These unique earrings are finished with black brass lever back ear wires with a single rhinestone in front. The earrings are approximately two inches in total length.
